Catalina Wine Mixer – Summer
If you’ve seen the movie “Step Brothers” you know all about the Catalina Wine Mixer (POW!). Although the event didn’t actually exist before the movie, it does now! In the past, the event organizers even screened the movie the night before the event in the historic Catalina Casino. Catalina Festival of Art – September
Not only does the annual Catalina Festival of Art attract art lovers from around the country, but it’s one of the longest running and most acclaimed art festivals in California!
Each year in September, artists from all over the country gather to sell their fine art, sculptures, fine crafts, and photography. There is no cost to attend the street fair and it takes place on the waterfront at Catalina Island — talk about a picturesque setting for an art festival!

Catalina JazzTrax Festival – October
Catalina Island has hosted one of the most respected and recognized musical festivals, the Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival, since 1987. Each October, the festival hosts some of the top smooth jazz entertainers as well as exciting new artists. All performances are on the top floor of the historic 1929 Avalon ballroom, with majestic views that look out over the sea. Buccaneer Days – October
Arrr, matey! If your favorite ride at Disneyland is the Pirates of the Carribean, you’ll love Catalina’s legendary 3-day pirate party in Two Harbors. There’s live music, plenty of gruel and grog (“food and drinks” in pirate speak!), and a costume contest. You can even rent lounge chairs or palapas, which provide comfortable seating for up to eight people. Avalon’s New Year’s Event Celebration – December 31
